I'm crushing on Todd Snyder NYC
Over the past couple of weeks, I must have visited the J. Press x Todd Snyder collaboration page at least 40 times. Something about the combination of Todd Snyder's bold colors and relaxed-but-tailored silhouettes with J. Press's classic menswear designs speaks to my soul.
I felt a similar "spark" when I first laid eyes on the L.L. Bean x Todd Snyder collaboration that released in September. I have a total count of two hiking/mountaineering/outdoor-focused garments in my wardrobe: these HOKA ONE ONE Kaha boots, and this White Mountaineering x Uniqlo fleece pullover - but the L.L. Bean collection with Todd Snyder seriously has me considering doubling or tripling my hiking-themed garment count.
My go-to outfit used to be skinny jeans and hoodies or graphic t-shirts with athletic sneakers. Maybe I'm starting to feel my age , because these days I find myself desiring to wear pieces that maximize comfort, flatter my mid-30's body, and also help me look "my age" but don't make me appear or feel old.
I always picture myself dressing like someone's cool and stylish uncle who has no kids and loves drinking old fashions, and I think Todd Snyder will be my "gateway drug" to get there. Some of the pieces are pricey, but everything I've read about the brand points to great construction, excellent fabrics, and overall quality that keeps the garments in good shape for years to come. If I stop spending money on two or three cheap graphic t-shirts at $20 a pop every month, it becomes very feasible to buy this fuzzy cerulean blue wool sweater or these olive green climbing pants.
My grail piece from Todd Snyder right now: this dope "Prince of Wales plaid" overcoat. One day I'll fully embrace my inner "cool uncle" and throw down on this beauty. For now I'm happy with my black velour polo shirt and matching sweatpants.
